Inkscape is a free, open-source alternative to the popular program, Adobe Illustrator. For those who cannot afford to shell out cash to buy Adobe Illustrator CS6, Inkscape is a fairly useful and inexpensive alternative to Adobe Illustrator CS6. Both programs are used for creating amazing vector graphics. Vector graphics are ideal for drawing and creating logos. Scalability is a popular feature with vector graphics which means that artworks can be scaled up or enlarged without getting pixilated or losing their quality. So vector graphic formats, such as .svg (scalable vector graphics) by Inkscape, retain maximum image quality.
Inkscape is a free alternative to the popular vector program, Illustrator CS6. Being an open-source project, Inkscape also has a great community of users. One is likely to find a lot of tutorials and support on their forum. Most of all, Inkscape is free and the tools allow users to create amazing vector graphics almost the same quality as Illustrator without having to spend money. Inkscape has almost every capability to create great vector graphics as does Illustrator CS6. So there’s no holding back to unleashing your creativity.
- Free to use because its an open-source software
- Similar functionalities as Illustrator CS6
- Cannot open Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files
- Inkscape’s minimal user interface may seem dull to some people

Inkscpae is a free alternative to Adobe Illustrate(or other vector image program) the program allows for different forms of project creation including:
Some other great features include Object manipulation, Styling of objects, Rendering, and import/export are also available. Natively Inkscape is able to export to many different formats including some popular ones like PDF, PS, EPS, EPSi, AI as well as many others. With all of these export options you have great compatibility to work with other artists without having to pay large sums of money for software.
The easy to use interface allows for beginners and professionals alike to easily use the software once you know where everything is. The fact that it is readily available to most UNIX based Operating Systems including Windows and OS X gives it great availability.
In conclusion there is no real need to spend large sums of money on photoshopt or illustrator just to do some simple work or hobby style art.
- Clean and easy to use interface
- Readily available to most operating systems
- Sometimes can be a little buggy around exporting(nothing that can't be handled)
